Summary

Sam Collins is an Australian artist, designer and collaborator based in London. Born in Hobart, Tasmania, he studied Sculpture at Curtin University of Technology in Perth, Western Australia. He has exhibited in numerous group and solo exhibitions, and in recent years has concentrated on the design and production of large-scale art projects and theatre productions. He has been associated with Artangel since 2002, working with artists such as Steve McQueen, Matthew Barney, Gregor Schneider and Kutlug Ataman. As a designer he has worked on a diverse range of projects from a hybrid Opera/Art Exhibition with curators Hans Ulrich Obrist and Philippe Parreno (Il Tempo del Postino - Group Show) to a contemporary Arabic production of Shakespeare, with Sulayman Al Bassam Theatre Company (Richard III - An Arab Tragedy). Collins first collaborated with Siobhan Davies Dance Company on Bird Song in 2004 and has collaborated with Siobhan Davies on In Plain Clothes and Two Quartets.
